Xi'an, called Chang'an in ancient times, is the capital city of Shaanxi Province with a total area of 10,108 square kilometers and a population of approximately 13 million.
Xi'an is now a national center for scientific research, high education, and culture of China, and the economic powerhouse of Western China. Home to over 30 higher education institutions with over 800,000 students.
Xi'an's industrial pillars include electronics and information technology, automotive manufacturing, aerospace, high-end equipment, new materials and new energy, food processing, and biopharmaceuticals
Boasting over 3,100 years of urban history and 1,100 years as a capital city, Xi'an served as the capital for 13 dynasties, including the Western Zhou, Qin, Western Han, Xin, Eastern Han, Western Jin, Former Zhao, Former Qin, Later Qin, Western Wei, Northern Zhou, Sui, and Tang. Designated as a National Historical and Cultural City, it is revered as a cradle of Chinese civilization and the starting point of the ancient Silk Road.
❤ In remote antiquity of China, “Lantian Ape Man” lived in the region of Xi'an;
❤ In the Neolithic Period, “Banpo Villagers” settled here to set up their tribes;
❤ In the 11th century BC, Zhou Dynasty established the two capitals near Xi’an which initiated the brilliant history of Xi'an as a thousand-year capital of China.
❤ The city was first established more than 3100 years ago and it has been taken as a capital for 1129 years for 13 dynasties, including Western Zhou, Qin, Western Han, Xin, Eastern Han, Western Jin, Former Zhou, Former Qin, Later Qin, Western Wei, Northern Zhou, Sui, and Tang.
❤ Xi'an is on the list of Top Four Ancient Capitals of the world, in the company of Athens, Rome, and Cairo.
